Last week I did my teaching group. I was very nervous at that time. I should teach one group consist of 12 students and the students are my classmate. I taught reading material about narrative text. Actually I did not feel very well at that time. I got cough and influenza for almost one week. I was afraid if my voice cannot be heard loud enough by my friends and unfortunately it really happened. When I taught my friends in front of the class, my voice was sunk by Anggi’s voice. Anggi was my teaching partner. She also did teaching group like me but in another group. She taught speaking class so of course her class was very noisy. Unfortunately I taught reading class so my class was very calm. I tried to make a good interaction with my students but my voice could not help me. I received a lot of comments from my lecturer and it really helped to improve my teaching ability. I should give more spirit while I am teaching so my students can be more enthusiastic. Next, I also should be more communicative with my students so my students can get the lesson well. Besides that, I should give set closure which is appropriately. Last week I forgot to give set closure, I did not give conclusion or summary to my students. I have to give summary or conclusion so my students can recall what they have learned during the lesson.
I really want to be a good teacher for my students later so I can help them study English well. I think I have a lot of weaknesses. One of my weaknesses is I cannot speak fluently. I always try to learn how to speak fluently but I do not know why I am still nervous while I am talking. I really want to improve my speaking ability. I hope I can learn more and more how to speak fluently by joining this micro teaching class. Honestly, I enjoy joining micro teaching class because I have to pretend as a students and I enjoy that. Thank you… ;D
One thing you can do to reduce your being nervous is prepare yourself well. Prepare a lesson plan, list the things you and your students will do in the classroom, prepare questions that you will ask your students, and of course, master the subject/topic discussed. I am sure you will feel less nervous if you are prepared! :) You've learned a lot from your friends and your experiences how to be a better teacher, so have fun and good luck :)
